Introduction
------------
This program is pretty straight forward in its use. The main
purpose was a way for visiting sysops to my BBS to advertise
their BBS. Visiting sysops are aimed to my questionaire, which
I have included with the program, once they enter all of the
questions, SYSLIST reads the file and creates a Bulletin for my
callers to read. If the sysop logs in as a "New User" they go
to the supplied "QuesNew" questionaire, it is the same as the
standard Wildcat New User questionaire with the exception of it
asks where they heard about your BBS, then asks if they are a
Sysop. If they reply "Y"[es] then they are immediately transfered
to the Visiting Sysop questionaire. This version now also creates
a "Bullx.Txt" file for use as a downloadable list with out any
@ codes. The included Ques0002.Dat file can also be called from
the Questionaire area, so all sysops can be included in the list.
Registered users will get a program called "Bye.Exe" this program
will create a "Goodbye.BBS" with the name, location, phone, and baud
rate of the BBS'.
What is Shareware?
------------------
Shareware is a form of distribution which gives users a chance to try
software before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
to use it, you are expected to register. Individual programs differ on
details -- some request registration while others require it, some
specify a maximum trial period. With registration, you get anything
from the simple right to continue using the software to an updated
program with printed manual.
Registration
------------
If you find SYSLIST useful and you continue to use it after a reasonable
(30 days) trial period, you are required to make a registration payment
of $10.00 to Larry Edwards. See "REGIS.TXT" for more information.
The $10.00 registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
computer at any one time.
You must treat a registered version of this software just like a book.
Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the same time,
this software may be used by any number of people and may be freely moved
from one computer location to another, as long as there is no possibility
of it being used in two different locations at the same time.
Commercial users of SYSLIST must register and pay for their copies of the
program within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn. For
site-license information, contact the author direct.
You are encouraged to pass (unregistered) copies of SYSLIST along
to your friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to register their
copy if they find that they can use it. All registered users will
receive a copy of the latest version of SYSLIST when they register.
Though the program is not "crippled" in anyway, this shareware version
shows an "Unregistered " status message on the Main Screen.
Please fill out the included registration order form (file REGIS.TXT)
and send in your registration today. You can send REGIS.TXT to your
printer by typing:
"COPY REGIS.TXT PRN" (without the quotes)
and then pressing ENTER while at the MS-DOS prompt.
What Do I Get for Registering, and Why Should I?
------------------------------------------------
Here are some reasons why you should register:
o You can get a registered copy of the program by calling my BBS.
When a new version comes out you can download a registered copy
from my BBS.
o You get a LIFETIME license, meaning you're entitled to all future
versions/upgrades of SYSLIST.
o You get unlimited technical support via surface mail or electronic
mail.
o You have the author's ear when it comes to suggesting new features
and capabilities.
o You help increase competition in the software industry by keeping
prices low (shareware doesn't rely on expensive advertising).
o Finally, you can be proud of the honesty and integrity you've shown
in registering the program and having participated in the Shareware
revolution.
o You will get the "Bye.Exe" program to make a "Goodbye.BBS" screen.
Installation and Operation
--------------------------
This is very simple, extract "SYSLIST.EXE" into any directory that
is in your PATH statement. You will need to create a configuration
file(see SAMPLE.CFG) and put it in the same directory as SYSLIST.EXE.
Your .cfg file will look like:
Tinker Software BBS <- The name of YOUR BBS
C:\WC30\QUES\QUES0002.001 <- Path and name of questionaire answers.
C:\WC30\BULL\BULL1.BBS <- Path and name of output file
This file MUST be named SYSLIST.CFG as this is what the program looks
for when it is run.
You will need to use the questionaires I have included (Ques0002.Dat,the
Visiting Sysop Questionaire and Quesnew.Dat, the New user questionaire).
Simply copy these into your "Ques" directory.
Now comes the hard part, the operation. Type SYSLIST, that is it. It will
get the rest of the needed information from the .cfg file and will make
a bulletin like below:
╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗
║ List of Visiting Sysops BBSs', Created by SYSLIST V1.2 ║
║ Registered to : UNREGISTERED ║
╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Please explain a little about your BBS:
Support BBS for Tinker Software programs.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This bulletin is color coded for Wildcat and gives the viewer enough
information to see if they want to call the BBS. The "Bullx.Txt" file
will also be created, and put in the same directory, without the color
codes.
I call it as part of my nightly event, I have the following line in
my "Daily.Bat" file:
Call Syslist
By using "Call" in the .Bat file it will cause the program to run
then return to the .bat file to execute the next command.
I also then copy the "Bullx.txt" file to a work directory, ZIP it up
as "BBSLIST.ZIP" then copy that to a downloadable file area. Something
like this:
CD\WC30\BULL
COPY BULL8.TXT G:\WORK
CD\WORK
REN BULL8.TXT BBSLIST.TXT
PKZIP -EA BBSLIST
COPY BBSLIST.ZIP K:\WC30\TEXT
DEL BBSLIST.TXT
DEL BBSLIST.ZIP
CD\WC30
BYE Program
-----------
Registered users will get the program "Bye.Exe" which will take the
supplied information and create a "Goodbye.BBS" similar to below:

Final Remarks
-------------
Many Thanks to my Wife, Evelyn, for her Friendship, Love, and Support in
every aspect of my life. Especially my addiction to computer keyboards.
I've made every effort to provide a safe and stable program, BUT...
If you find errors or additions, please let me know.
NOTE: Your registration and support for this program will enable me to
continue to develop SYSLIST and add other valuable features in future
versions.
I'd appreciate bug reports, new feature requests, comments, performance
problems, constructive criticism, suggestions, additions.
